WISHLIST
• I'd love to play with the body horror of Alina mutilating herself with the amplifiers. The show solved this too quickly; I liked that she had her antlers in the books until the very end. I wouldn't mind making the Sea Whip and Firebird amplifiers more ghastly.
• Alina being hungry for power while assuming it will earn her a normal, anonymous life. I'm not interested in Alina wanting to be a Saint by any means (this Twitter thread comes to mind), but I would love the opportunity for her to be weighed down by the fact she feels she's the only one who can help Ravka, and be corrupted by her tunnel vision and the power of the amplifiers.
• Mutual hurt/comfort (I'm okay with one character being more hurt than the other, but I'm not interested in playing 100% comfort nor making anyone else do the same).
• Tropes such as trapped together (in a small room, in a prison cell, in an icy cabin, somewhere hot, etc.), sharing body heat, fake dating, there's only one bed, and soulmates/soulbonds/soulmarks.
• With any toxic/power play scenes, I don't mind Alina being the one manipulated, but I also would love to play her manipulating her manipulator.
• When it comes to the Darkling, I like the power imbalance at play between the two. While the Darkling's power is more obviously known, I feel like Alina has power over him in gifting him the affection he seems to have gone without for so long. I ship it for the toxicity and prefer to play with Stockholm Syndrome and project onto each other vibes that convey that they're not genuinely reciprocating feelings. I like mess, man. I wish Alina had been a little more cruel with him and the books had gone a little darker.
